DIR Floortime® is a developmental model that incorporates a student’s development, their individual differences, and relationships. At Rebecca school we do not use discrete trials or ABA. Hours: Full time--School schedule 3 days a week 8-3:30 and 2 days 8-4:30

Salary and Benefits: Based on experience and certifications, based on an annual range of 62,000-67,000 for a full time employee. Facility: The Rebecca School, New York, N.Y., the first DIRFloortime® based school in New York City, is a therapeutic day school for children 3 to 21. Rebecca School is a developmental program that works in the method developed by Dr. Stanley Greenspan. The DIR methodology proceeds from the core belief that relationships are the foundation of learning. Rebecca school serves students on the autism spectrum along with students with neurodevelopmental delays of relating and communicating.

Qualifications: Master's degree in music therapy; MT-BC required; LCAT or limited permit. Working knowledge of Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy in preferred, must have excellent clinical improvisational skills on Piano and / or guitar and voice; experienced in supervising music therapy interns; knowledgeable in Stanley Greenspan’s DIR Floortime® Model; experience in working with children diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorders.

Description of position: ability to integrate music therapy into the DIRFloortime® model to meet developmental and mental health goals. Must be able to work flexibly and collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams. Facilitate individual and group sessions; participate in weekly clinical staff meetings, case conferences and parent meetings. When necessary will conduct assessments. Maintain all necessary documentation and reports based on DIRFloortime®. After a year of employment be willing to supervise music therapy fieldwork students and interns.

Speech & Language Pathologist (Full-Time)

Rebecca School is looking for a Speech-Language Pathologist for the 2024-2025 school year to provide developmental assessment and therapy in both individual and group settings. At the Rebecca School, sessions can occur in a variety of environments, contexts, and social settings, dependent on each student’s individualized speech and language program. Through collaboration across disciplines, SLPs are able to make modifications to each classroom and therapeutic environment to enhance an individual’s comprehension or capacity to express their ideas.  While language development is always a primary focus of therapy, a developmental approach is also applied towards mealtime and feeding development for our students. Cooking groups, feeding groups, sensory based play, community outings, and field trips are just a few of the many mediums which are utilized by our therapists to connect with and promote enjoyable learning opportunities for each student in relation to their individualized growth.

Salary Range: $ 63,000-70,000/12-month contract (salary prorated depending on contract length; negotiable based on years of experience)

General Duties   

  -Provide individual and group speech language therapy to meet individual needs.    -Provide comprehensive assessment to determine a student’s baseline communicative profile in areas of language acquisition, articulation and oral motor/feeding development.    -Write daily session notes, biannual progress reports and initial evaluations.  

-Evaluate, develop, implement and train staff on linguistically and developmentally appropriate augmentative alternative communication (AAC) for individual students.   

-Ensure carryover and generalization of speech, language and feeding goals through collaboration with classroom staff, related services and families  

-Work as part of an interdisciplinary team.   -Be trained and comfortable with the principles of DIRFloortime ® and how it applies to interactions, communication and therapeutic practices.   

- Maintains professional competence by attending staff development programs and continuing education programs.  

-Regular parent/caregiver communication.   

-Provides testimony for students at impartial hearing if necessary as well as IEPs if necessary.   

-Maintains safety of children at all times.

At the Rebecca School, sessions can occur in a variety of environments, contexts, and social settings, dependent on each student’s individualized speech and language program. General Job Description:

· Provide individual and group physical therapy services to students that reflect their individual gross motor and developmental needs.

· Development of individualized therapeutic programs for students

· Training of other staff on pertinent therapeutic activities/techniques (handling techniques, sitting ergonomics, appropriate cuing, gross motor skill milestones) to support students as needed.

· Performance of initial evaluations and discharges when appropriate

· Work as part of an interdisciplinary team

· Consistent communication with parents/caregivers

· Writing of daily session notes, biannual progress reports, initial evaluations, and discharges (when appropriate).

· Referrals for appropriate assistive/adaptive technologies (wheelchairs, orthotics, etc.)
