Reelabilities Film Festival!
February 4, 2013
Rebecca School is a promotional partner and sponsor of the upcoming Reelabilities Film Festival, happening in New York from March 7th-12th.
Reelabilities Film Festival is the largest festival in the country dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of the lives, stories and artistic expressions of people with different disabilities. Initiated in NY in 2007, the festival presents award winning films by and about people with disabilities in multiple locations throughout each hosting city. Post-screening discussions and other engaging programs bring together the community to explore, discuss, embrace, and celebrate the diversity of our shared human experience.
Rebecca School will be helping to host the screening of the movie “The Importance of Tying Your Own Shoes”, directed by Lena Koppel, on March 10th at 2p.m. at The JCC in Manhattan, located at 334 Amsterdam Ave, New York, NY 10023.
Here’s a little about the movie: “When Alex finally gets a job as the leader of a theater group for people with disabilities his outlook on life begins to change. Through the group’s work, Alex comes to appreciate that every person has his or own talents, which can grow given opportunity and support.”
Here’s how you can get involved! Rebecca School will be pre-ordering tickets to the above screening, at $12 a ticket. The festival is allowing this to become a fundraiser for our RAA and Café Rebecca! We will get half of the money sold in tickets, which will benefit our amazing Café Rebecca!! If you would like to attend the screening and help support the festival and our café, please contact Bonnie Waring at BWaring@rebeccaschool.orgif you are interested in attending (please indicate how many tickets you would like to purchase). You can send the money (cash or check payable to the Rebecca School) attention to Bonnie Waring at 40 East 30th Street, New York, NY 10016. She will send home your tickets as soon as they arrive! Deadline to order tickets is February 14th.
